Cello ROCK

Cello rebel Matt Haimovitz takes an exhilarating, genre-bending tour of the rock side of his instrument, revisiting some of his wildest and most whimsical tracks, with favorite collaborators like Christopher O’Riley, Socalled, DJ Olive, and his ensemble, Uccello. Cello ROCK spans the sensuous intensity of Radiohead’s Pyramid Song, the lush tones of John McLaughlin’s Open Country Joy, and the vigorous exclamation of Pussy Riot’s Punk Prayer. Highlights also include all cello arrangements of Led Zeppelin’s Kashmir and Jimi Hendrix’s Machine Gun, with Haimovitz’s own notorious take on Hendrix’s Anthem showing us why the cello, in his hands, knows no bounds.
